Fantastic Service

Larry came out to service my house for our to central AC units. One of them would not start. Larry identified the problem and came up with a solution that worked. Larry also cleaned both units for the season and noticed that some of the insulation on the duct work was torn, and so he fixed that too. Larry was friendly, clear with the work that needed to be done, and very knowledgeable. I would use X-Treme Temp again.

Customer turned the system on, the contactor pulled in and there was a buzzing sound but nothing started. Found the capacitor was bad. Replaced the capacitor, started and tested. The system is properly charged.

Upon arrival we found the temp/pressure relief valve on the indirect water heater was leaking. Checked the temp and pressure and found both were acceptable and not the cause of the leak. Also found a hi-vent on the indirect water heater had leaked in the past and was no longer functioning properly. After getting customer authorization we replaced the temp/pressure relief valve and the hi-vent. Attempted to fill the system back up with water and found the autofeed was plugged internally with sediment and was not allowing any water through. Removed the autofeed and installed a new autofeed, backflow preventer, and ball valve to isolate the boiler side of the autofeed. Filled system back up with water and purged all air out. Started and tested the system. Had hot water coming back on all zones. Unit is working properly

Performed an A/C pm on (2) systems. Blew out the drain line, replaced the air filters, customer supplied. Rinsed the condensers. Checked the electrical connections, checked the pressures and temps. The 2nd fl system was low on charge, added 12 oz R22. Also the capacitor was at the 10% tolerance before not working correctly. Replaced the capacitor and tested operation. The first floor system- after turning the thermostat on, there was a delay before the air handler started, possibly due to the batteries. Customer replaced them and the air handler started and contactor pulled in correctly. When the condenser started, the fan motor was spinning backwards due to the fan side of the dual capacitor being weak. Replaced the capacitor, started and finished testing the system. System is operating properly.

Removed an old 80% AFUE Rheem Classic Plus furnace in Northford and replaced it with a Carrier Infinity 98 modulating gas furnace. The existing unit had a cracked heat exchanger and was no longer cost-effective to repair. I modified the ductwork, installed a new PVC venting system, and connected a smart thermostat for better efficiency. After startup, I calibrated the system for proper airflow and combustion. The new unit runs quietly, provides better heating control, and will save the homeowner on energy costs.

Brushed and vacuumed flu pipes and heat exchangers Replaced oil filter, nozzles, and strainers Checked all electrical connections and safeties Preformed combustion and smoke tests When cleaning up after the service we found a small pinhole leak on the bottom of the oil canister. Replaced the bottom half of the oil canister with a new one. Also found that the porcelain on the water heater jtube had cracked. Took pictures and measurements for replacement. Furnace-12.0%o2 42ppm co 0 smoke Water heater-8.2%o2 29ppm co 0 smoke While testing the furnace there was a spike in o2 when the blower turned on indicating a crack in the heat exchanger. The o2 went from 5.6%o2 to 12.0%. Recommended replacing furnace soon before the crack causes issues with the heat. Quoted price for porcelain repair is 110 plus tax

Upon arrival found large section of oil line that was very porous and leaking. Pushed back all oil from oil line into oil tank. Removed old oil line, and installed new oil line in its place. Bleed the air from oil line and fired the unit. Checked for leaks around new connections, no leaks found. Recommend having a maintenance performed on the furnace. Signed up for bronze maintenance agreement.
